Girona are looking to move on from last weekend's defeat and regain their positive momentum ahead of Sunday's clash against Almería. Quique Álvarez's side lost 1-0 to Real Sociedad's B team in a match defined by David López's red card in the fourth minute and a Lander Astiazarán goal in the 89th.

Analysing the match, Marc Brugués said: "El Girona ha visto frenada la buena racha esta tarde con una derrota en el campo del filial de la Real Sociedad". Goalkeeper Gazzaniga was one of the team's standout performers, saving a penalty and a second chance from Dani Dáizy, but he couldn't prevent the late winner. The red-and-white outfit played almost the entire match with ten men.

Despite the adversity, Girona created clear chances through Carles Pérez and Portu. Unai Hernández's role in central midfield was solidified and striker Vanat showed good form. Manager Quique Álvarez made just one change to the starting lineup from the previous game, bringing in Junior for Francés.

The loss halts a positive spell for the team, who sit fourth in the Segunda División standings with 21 points from twelve games. Their goal difference stands at +11, having scored 22 and conceded 11. Forward Asprilla is the squad's top scorer this season with five goals in ten appearances.

Next opponents Almería arrive at the Estadio Municipal de Montilivi as the second-placed side. Girona, with three wins, a draw and a loss in their last five matches, need the three points to stay in the hunt for the top spots and close the five-point gap to leaders Castellón. The match kicks off on Sunday, November 8th.
