Girona failed to score at Montilivi for the first time this season, drawing 0-0 with Mallorca. The result leaves Quique Álvarez's side on 14 points, fourth in the Segunda División table and seven points behind leaders Eibar.

The home side dominated from the start. In the 4th minute, an Abel Ruiz shot rattled the crossbar. Donny van de Beek and Javier Boñar also tested the visiting keeper, but Arnau Tenas was decisive. The goalkeeper made several inspired saves, including stops from Unai Hernández in the 76th minute and Fran Beltrán in the 84th. "The goalkeeper started to become one of the reasons that explained the result," Tenas said after the match.

Girona created nine chances in the first half to Mallorca's two, but poor finishing undermined their play. Substitutions including Bryan Gil and Oleksandr Pyshchur failed to unlock the game. Referee Eder Mallo Fernández showed five yellow cards, one to Girona's Izan González and four to Mallorca players.

With this point, both teams have 14 points and remain outside the automatic promotion places after eight matchdays. Girona, who had averaged two goals per game prior to this match, must improve their efficiency. Their next fixture is an away trip to 12th-placed Tenerife on October 12th.
