Girona has started the renovation works of Montilivi's pitch to improve the playing field conditions before the start of the next season. The intervention will affect a significant part of the current surface. The workers will remove the first 13 centimeters of soil along with the artificial fibers that form part of the hybrid system installed in the stadium. Once this phase is completed, the soil will be treated and reused, compacting the terrain afterwards to ensure a uniform leveling throughout the surface. After that, the new natural grass will be placed, a step prior to the reinstallation of the artificial fibers that reinforce the structure of the field and allow for greater resistance to the wear and tear caused by training and matches. From the entity, they trust that the works will conclude in mid-July, leaving the pitch ready to face the pre-season and the start of the official competition. The action is part of the usual maintenance tasks required for this type of hybrid surfaces, especially after a demanding campaign in terms of use and weather conditions. While the debates about the future of Montilivi and the long-term projects continue, Girona has already taken the first visible step of the summer. The pitch will be the first to be renovated to receive a season in which the club hopes to start as soon as possible the path back to La Liga.
