Girona has finalized the sale of Jhon Solís to Birmingham for over seven million euros. The Colombian midfielder, who played the second half of the season with the English side, impressed enough for the British club to decide to acquire him permanently. This transaction represents a good profit for Girona, which had signed Solís for around six million three seasons ago. However, the Catalan club will not receive the full amount, as 20% of the sale will go to Atlético Nacional, his original club.
Despite his transfer, Solís did not leave a significant mark at Montilivi, playing 61 matches and scoring only one goal. With his departure, Girona is now focusing on planning the squad for the upcoming season, especially in the search for a new manager following the team's relegation to Segunda División.
Another Colombian player on Girona's radar is Yáser Asprilla, who has struggled to adapt to the club since his arrival in 2024. Despite being loaned to Galatasaray, his performance has been disappointing, leaving Girona's management with tough decisions to make. Additionally, Arnau Martínez, a key player, may be on the transfer list, as his release clause has been reduced to eight million euros following the team's relegation.
Girona is at a crucial moment in its history, and the decisions made in the coming weeks will be vital for its future in Spanish football.
