Girona, a LaLiga Santander team, has presented its new City Football Academy, a project that will be a main pillar for the club's future. According to Delfí Geli, Girona's president, this project is a definitive step for the project's consecration and will strengthen the club's commitment to young talent. The academy will have 23 hectares and seven fields for the first men's and women's teams, the LaLiga Genuine team, and the youth football team in the nearby town of Vilablareix. The planned investment is 25 million euros, which will be financed 70% with funds from the Plan Impulso infrastructure fund. Girona joined the agreement with CVC because it was an opportunity for the club, according to Geli. The team has promising players who are already a reality, such as Arnau Martínez, Santi Bueno, Miguel Gutiérrez, Aleix García, or Viktor Tsygankov, in addition to loaned players like Rodrigo Riquelme. The City Football Academy Girona will also ratify the club's membership in the City Football Group, which owns 47% of Girona. Ferran Soriano, CEO of the City Football Group, highlighted that the City Football Academy Girona will be the second-largest academy in the entire group. The project for the new academy was presented at the end of February, and work is expected to begin in early 2024. Over time, Girona has shown that it gives opportunities to young players, like Joel Roca, who played for the under-19 national team at just 17 years old. The club has returned to LaLiga Santander this season to live its third adventure in the elite of Spanish football. So, Girona's future looks promising with this new project. The academy will be a place where players can develop their skills and grow as footballers. Girona is on the path to consolidating itself in the elite and getting better every day, according to Geli. The City Football Academy Girona project is a fundamental step in Girona's history.
