The Catalan government's Civil Protection agency has activated the Inuncat flood risk plan due to intense rain and storms affecting Catalonia. The intense rain and storms affecting Catalonia this Thursday have forced the Catalan government's Civil Protection agency to keep the Inuncat flood risk plan activated. According to the maps, the forecasts are for intense rain and storms, up to 60 liters per square meter, which could cause river flooding in the comarques of Barcelona and Girona. The alert is also activated from Thursday at 14.00 hours until Friday at 8.00 hours. The Catalan Water Agency warns that the rain could cause flash flooding in rivers and streams because the land is wet from recent rain, so it asks not to cross them in any case even if it's not raining. According to the Meteorological Service, the storm episode, which could be accompanied by hail in some areas, will start in the interior and move towards the coast. Additionally, Civil Protection warns that the Confederació Hidrogràfica de l'Ebre has intensified its vigilance due to the forecast of possible flooding in barrancos and smaller courses of the Segre river. The Meteocat notes that, after the episode —which is expected to end at first light on Friday—, Catalonia will enjoy a more peaceful day, with significantly lower temperatures and some showers both in the morning and in the afternoon.
